QUALITY OF LIFE AUDIT

Firstly lets set out some principles.

Everything we do in life is a choice and every choice has consequences.  Not choosing is in fact a choice and that too has consequences.

If you do nothing, nothing will change.  If there are areas of your life that you feel are less than great, it is your choice whether you do something about them or not.  “If you always do what you have always done you will always get what you have always got”

There may be some things which are totally out of your control.  You may not be able to control them but you can choose how you react to them.  By changing your reaction you change the experience.

Grand gestures rarely effect lasting changes.  It is the small, ongoing changes consistently done which over time have the capacity to effect huge change.

This audit tool is designed to help you take a snapshot of your life, to give you a perspective on your life as a whole.  It is extremely  common to have areas of life where you feel things are going really well and others where things feel out of whack.

You can choose to sit and do the whole audit at one time, others have chosen to focus on one area at a time over a period of weeks.  It is vital that you see this as a tool to help you identify priorities, to set yourself manageable goals.

Remember that it is small improvements consistently applied which make the difference, rather than the grand gesture which is not followed through.  Think how many people make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight.  They join an expensive gym, buy all the right gear, stock the fridge up with salads and are determined that they will have enough will power to make it happen this time.

They may go for the induction session at the gym, find they can hardly move the next day and eat a box of chocolates to make them feel better.  Three months later they weigh the same or a little more, the gym kit is in a bag at the bottom of the wardrobe and the gym membership is simply another expense.

Success breeds success so start with small achievable goals.

Step 1

Use the Wheel Of Life to score how well things are going in your life.

Step 2

Think about all the things which are going well in your like.  Acknowledge them and consider what has created the success.

Step 3

  1. Identify which of the following areas in your life has the potential to be even better.  Choose up to 3 areas you want to focus on.  Identify what you want to be different about your life in these areas.
  • Physical Wellbeing
  • Emotional Strength
  • Relationships with yourself and others
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Life style
  • Professional life
  • Abundance – including financial

  1. Why is it important that things change?
  2. What do you need to do differently in order to achieve your wish in each area?
  3. Can you do it on your own or is it something you need help with?
